Possibly. Course, I just believe that the Japanese (As well as Americans) were trying to just make money off of an idea that was really working for them: Men chosen by destiny to protect our planet from giant lizards with giant robotic suits. Simple as that.

And did you know that Guyver is Solid Snake? Oh yeah, there was a time. Go look that one up.
